In the past, whenever anyone’s started a thread whose only purpose was to denigrate other message boards, it’s immediately shut down because it’s just asking for a board war. Just a guess, as it’s not directed against a specific board or a “call to action”, it’s not over the line. My opinion-real close and in a gray area. ---

**Runner Pat** has it – there’s no call for action there. Yes, similar threads have been closed in the past, but I’m not going to try to parse the specific posts in those threads or mind-read the specifics of any of those moderator decisions. I don’t think it should be news to anyone that moderation here is based on personal judgment, and, in the judgment of the people currently modding MPSIMS, there’s no reason to close this thread. We are, of course, keeping an eye on it, and if the tenor should change, we’ll lock it. (And, no, I’m not double-dog-daring you to make us lock it.) **twickster** , MPSIMS moderator ---

I agree with **twickster** on this, and I’ll add that there isn’t any “rule” against such threads. Risk of a board war is a reason that we sometimes close threads like that, but nobody gets a moderator note or a warning. We just close the thread and explain why. You needn’t worry; we gave up conscripting posters after the rout in the battle of Coulter Hill. 🙂 **Gfactor** Administrator ---

I’m glad. I’d think closing that thread would be overkill. For one reason, some of those boards mentioned actually pride themselves on their being assholes. I think they’d be more likely to tell us “thank you” than to attack. ETA: Gfactor, shouldn’t that be an Administrator Note now? 😛 ---
