Where did I assert otherwise? I’m not sure what your point is here. FWIW, most of my arguments these days are with people who are Christian and/or Republican, and I may be the furthest thing from either that you’re likely to meet.

YMMV, but I find it impossible to completely separate the personal from the influences of my life. As Robert Louis Stevenson said, “In the final analysis, everyone is his own doctor of divinity”.

I apologize if my silly remarks have insulted you, but I think you’re taking them way too seriously. FTR, my long hair once got me fired – I woulda definitely preferred being ‘patronized’.

To use a line I still dust off once in a while: _“Peace.”_

And all differences aside, anyone who remembers when Homer took the crayon to the brain is a friend of mine.

I _still_ think it’s a hoax. Is there any other source that confirms this “fad”?

Too bad Marty Feldman is dead, he could be their model. Maybe they could get Don Knotts. Or Barbara Bush!

I Googled the “Netherland Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery” and it does exist and you can look up details a bout [“jewellery implant” here.](http://www.niioc.nl/cei-eng.htm) It says it’s “implanted within the superficial, interpalpebral conjunctiva.” It tells you who manufactures the shiny material and two clinics that perform it.

Hm. I’m still a touch dubious myself.

They have a much better photo of it though, that looks a lot less nasty than the Reuters photo.

It would be kinda cool if they could make the “jewel” look like another pupil and iris.

Or maybe I’ve just seen too many TOOL videos.

Being a shy boy, for much of my life I’ve tended to avoid looking people in the face, much less looking them in the eye. Nowadays, I make a concerted effort to look people in the eye. Of course, it’s very difficult when something’s not right with their eyes. Even if they’re cross-eyed, I have a bit of trouble; and I feel really bad about it. (I suppose I’d get used to it if a good friend or family member was cross-eyed.)

So, this eye jewellery thing is really wince-worthy to me. That said, I applaud someone for going through with the idea. Somebody’s got to try it to find out if it works. I hope none of the folks who’ve already gotten this done (or those soon to go through with it) meet up with any health problems. Going blind would really suck. At the same time though, I wouldn’t be sad to see the idea retired due to health risks.

Of course, there’s always penis splitting. (Google it, if you’re curious, but be warned. )

Anyhoo…

I’m not one to go out of my way to “be different” or “shock people,” but I must say, it looks damn cool.

I’ve got 4 piercings, and I’d trade them all for that one. YMMV, of course. 😉
