I’ll vote for Hillary if she’s the Democrat candidate. But hell, the Dems could nominate the Abominable Snowman, and I’d vote for him if his opponent is a Republican.

Too late for that… the Abominable Snowman is running as the Tea Party candidate in the Alaska Senatorial Primary.

> I really hope the Dems can come up with someone different. I mean, I’ll vote for Clinton in a general against any conceivable Republican nominee, and I think she is eminently qualified, but I have two gut-level objections to her:
>
> - her age
> - her name
>
> I think she’s too old to be up to the rigors of eight years of the presidency She’d be what, 76 at the end of her second term? Her health seems okay now (not withstanding the blow to the head she took in a fall at the end of 2012) but actuarily speaking there’s some health risk there.
>
> Secondly - **I’m not a big fan of presidential dynasties.** The first Clinton administration was great, but having the same family in the Whitehouse for a total of 16 years is too long. I didn’t like seeing the Bushes repeat either for the same reason. If Clinton were elected a roster of U.S. Presidents since 1988 would read "Bush-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Bush-Obama-Obama-Clinton-[Clinton]. That’s up to 36 years with only three families in the White House. Let’s embrace some diversity.

I’m with you 1000% on THAT count. Couldn’t agree with you more.

[Nate Silver picks apart polls on Hillary’s qualifications.](http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/is-hillary-clinton-qualified-to-be-president-a-new-poll-is-easy-to-misread/)

The TL:DR version is: your view of whether a candidate is “qualified” to be president is heavily linked to how much you like them and/or their party. If you lean Democratic, you’ll see her as qualified. If you don’t, you won’t.

Yeah, I don’t like that. I love Rand Paul. I do not think he’s as yet qualified to be President. I like Marco Rubio. He is also unqualified. I do not like Rick Perry. Rick Perry is qualified. I also believe Hillary Clinton is well qualified, more qualified than anyone in either party who is likely to compete against her(unless Bill Richardson runs, he’s probably the best qualified man in any party to be President).

Politicians that I like that are unqualified to be president: Alan Grayson (too confrontational), Julian Castro (not enough experience), Bernie Sanders (not formally affiliated with the Democratic Party)

Politicians that I don’t like who are qualified to be president: John Boehner, John McCain, Orrin Hatch.

Sure, we are more likely to think someone is more qualified if we like him/her, but most of us are realistic enough to not be completely partisan about it.

> She has more charisma than any of the donkeys to GOP has to field, and besides, she knows the name of at least one national publication. Clinton is far more agreeable than a Ryan, or a Paul, Santorum, Christy, the list goes on. The 1% have enough bought and paid for representatives in Congress, let’s keep their paid goffers out of the people’s house.

I’m not sure Clinton is particularly distinguishable on that count. Bill pretty much created the Third Way, business-friendly Democrat archetype.
