…and moved the tassel from right to left. Now to do it one more time, wearing a hood. Now if the homework would just do itself. Not that it ever has in the previous 50 years… The good thing is Kareem was a better speaker than Kitty Dukakis. ---

My niece walked at the University of Alabama. They haven’t had a Commencement Speaker in years. Awesome concept. ---

I’ve “graduated” a couple of times since the 70s, but I’ve never heard the term “walked”. “I walked today” is not a great thread title. I thought you beat a prison rap; or didn’t beat it, and were a “Dead Man Walking”; … or were miraculously healed of a pesky paralysis. ---

I’ve heard the expression “walk” in this context exactly once, ever, in fiction: _Dragonsinger: Harper of Pern_, when at the end of the book [del]Mary Sue[/del] Menolly is granted Journeyman status and does indeed literally walk from the apprentices’ table at dinner to the journeymen’s. ---
