But no one ever invites me!! :mad: Seriously, I remember that I used to see thread about DoperFests, and references to them, but these were always after the fact. How/where do I keep abreast of any upcoming get-togethers in my area (hint, hint: Boston)? ---

Generally speaking, any announced dopefest is open season for dopers who want to go. Depending on the event, though, you may find yourself at odds with getting there: for example, if you donā€™t have $500 for tickets to a Tibet dopefest; or, if youā€™re under 21 and the thingā€™s at a bar. Thereā€™s a dopefest June 19 in Gettysburg, and I somehow doubt that anyone would stage a formal protest were you present. Iā€™m betting you could probably catch the train down, and one of the locals might be willing to pick you up from there. ---

A little closer to you than Gettysburg might be NY. DaveW0071ā€™s RibFest is happening in June. If you go have a look in MPSIMS, youā€™ll find a thread - or search ā€œRibfestā€. Weā€™d love to have you. ---

We just had a New England mini-fest a few weeks ago at **tanookie** and **parallaxā€™s** house. Look for threads in MPSIMS. You can also do a search for Boston Dopers in yahoo groups. Thereā€™s a list that you are welcome to join. Itā€™s open to anyone in the general area. Actually itā€™s open to anyone. Weā€™re really not that fussy. Weā€™re also not that vocal or active. Perky is pretty much right out. But several folks have expressed an interest in doing more stuff this summer. One suggestion was a trip to Salem (no relation) to do the witchy thing. Emailā€™s in my profile if you need more info. So there it is. Your official invitation to any and all Boston/New England Dopefests. Accent not required. ---

you could always host your own too - I got tired of missing stuff and just started one (the one Salem mentioned) Iā€™m trying to talk the hubby into getting a hotel room so we can go to RibFest! Wish me luck - deadline for ribfest is 3 days! ---
