We really like our new Matrix, but I think they start around 16G.
Though this discussion has mainly been about mini-SUVs, I’ll throw in a wagon recommendation:
The Saturn LW-2
Got one, like it a lot. They started making them in 2000, I believe, so you’re not going to find one that’s too old. Nice, roomy, fold-down back seats for more storage, etc. And it handles and drives well, IMO. Go for the 6-cyl, though, the 4-cyl is a joke.
I got a '96 Blazer for 9500 bucks. It’s ok, not great, just ok. Lotsa room and plenty of power. Gas mileage isn’t great, about 18 mpg city/highway combined. Good vehicle for tall people, the butt part of the seat can raise and lower quite a bit.
I just saw this yesterday. It is exactly the car I want.
My only beef with it is that the cargo area is all plastic, making it like a skating rink for my dog, or anything else that I put there. Dum design.
