> The final Emma Peel episode of **The Avengers** had her husband return after supposedly being dead.

And, not long after she left the screen in The Avengers, she starred with Robert Culp in the television play **“Married Alive”** , in which a man claiming to be her late husband reappears in her life.

> Which was a remake of **The Return of Martin Guerre** , a much better film.

Which in turn is a fictionalized account of the abolutely true, and very well documented (for an incident of Medival peasent life that is) court case. Fascinating story.
Speaking of Medival, _Robin and Marian_ more or less qualifies, and is a wonderful movie.

Hmm…and I guess the story of Joseph in the Bible, although the reader is “in on it” form the beginning 😉 .

Well, if you’ll accept TV shows, try _Alias_. The whole plot with Person X being thought dead, but returning (and possibly not really being Person X) was a huge thing in Season 4 and in previous seasons, it was one of the more wider mysteries that was taken throughout the seasons rather than the episodic mystery/adventure.
