Before I had DishNetwork I was using two small fixed dishes for Dish Network and the Canadian equivalent of unscrambled music audio. I was aiming the dish on the barn and heard a Blues song, “You know I’ve got some bad habits, Baby, but the one I’m going to lose is you.” As far as the Canadian stuff goes, C&W in French is freaky.
Problem when you move it though, is getting pointed back at the satellite when the black helicopters are gone.
If you are in a fixed position looking at the two Dish Network satellites, you can repoint it with a compass. You could mark the alignment on the floor of the balcony and cn of cement. You could glue a compass to the tripod. The elevation and skew are fixed with set screws and remain constant.
Reading through that link, you are going to be stuck with finding some way to mount a dish, under 1 meter in diameter, in a space that is for your exclusive use, say a balcony. In addition, the owners/association can prevent you from drilling holes in an exterior wall.
Well, he could sink a post into a bucket of cement, or get a tripod, or build a table to hide it in, or get a fake rock, or any one of the many suggestions made by other posters in this thread already.
