I don’t know why GuyNBlueJeans was suspended. The reasons given were just unclear enough that racism per se might or might not be the cause. So, this isn’t about him in particular, but about racists in general. I want the fucking bastards where I can see them. One of the unforseen consequences of PC “hate speech” bullshit is that racists just become more subtle and more sublime with their hatred. I’m not talking about physical violence or even speech that calls for physical violence. I’m talking about just plain words. Sounds. Noises. Phonemes. Things that don’t call for breaking your bones but that piss you off all the same. The great thing about message boards is that it’s just text. I’m glad the PTB prohibit threats of physical violence because they can be carried out IRL with enough information and wherewithall. So the fact that you pegged them with that word is remarkably ironic. “Murderous” would have made more sense. Now, for the rest of us: racism is alive and well in the world. Coming here to play tea party and pretend there’s no hatred is just asinine. I don’t want a starched, fake, oh-so-nice discussion about something hateful people have done of any race. And I don’t want bigots hiding behind sweetness. I think the membership here will take care of racists with appropriate pile-ons and sharp-witted argument. But we can’t fucking do that if we don’t know who the fuck they are. I want racism front and center, where I can throw punches at it. I don’t want it hidden. I don’t want it suppressed. I’m perfectly capable of confronting and demolishing it. There’s precedent for this. Gaudere once allowed an avowed racist to post in Great Debates after pleadings from the membership, so long as the person obeyed the rules. With that out of the way, we _trounced_ the bitch, shredding her arguments to pieces with sound reason and compelling stats. Eventually, she disappeared and never returned. Racists aren’t trolling when they call people “niggers”. They’re _racists_. They are _expected_ to say shit like that. I think Biggirl, Cervaise, and other black board members can more than handle themselves. And those of us who count them among our peers will be right there by their sides to help. We don’t need a nanny to say that the playground is too dangerous and so we can’t play tag. Fuck. ---

I disagree. We had a flood of Stormfronters in here after \*\*BG \*\*invited them to debate us. That was a disaster. They shat all over GD and left a mess for us to clean up. ---

THe minions that waver on the fence - frankly I don’t think there’s many out there who waver on that thought. the rabid racists have too much at stake to ever admit they were wrong. ---

Trust me, as a Black person very concerned about fighting ignorance on racism, for one thing, I’m not worried about **Guy** and his attitudes. He is hardly the vanguard of racist thought out there. I learned absolutely nothing from his rants (and I suspect no-one else did, either). Garden variety whingeing about any number of topics that Archie Bunker covered in the 1970s. Nothing new there, or particularly interesting, either. I do hate how he was able to craft interesting OPs, but let us down with the ranting and generally pedestrian, hook-line-and-sinker regurgitation of right-wing radio host talking points. Now if he was some cutting-edge thinker that had some real insights to contribute, or was so clever that he would twist his rants into coherent thoughts, I’d be in favor of hearing what he had to say. His habit of posting inflammatory OPs, then disappearing, only responding to those posts that supported something he said while ignoring the intelligent, cogent posts refuting his rants was trollishness to the highest degree. Reminiscent of a few posters I recall who would post about their personal indiscretions, then do the exact thing. I won’t miss him on an intellectual level, but I will miss the irrational Ted Koppel hatred. (I’m imagining the Big Head of Ted Koppel from the Daily Show appearing in **Guy’s** window, telling him he sucks.) ---

I see your point, **Lib** , but it was obvious that **Guy** was a racist before he snapped that way (at least if you saw certain posts) and I don’t think anybody derived any benefit from that. ---

**GuyNblueJeans** was not suspended for racism. He was suspended for repeatedly posting bizarre screeds that appeared to have no purpose other than to shock or inflame. He didn’t want to debate his ideas, he wanted to scream them with increasing volume and vitriol. That speaks of someone whose purpose is not to engage in discussion, but to draw attention. We don’t need that. ---
