What I want to know it, what kind of an idiot can’t drain pasta in a colander without pouring it all down the garbage disposal??! If your coordination is that bad, you need a neurologist, not a fancy pot. And another thing, if you drain that thing, remove the lid, and have pasta up to the lip of the pot, you didn’t use enough water. and there’s no way you’re mixing in sauces like they show when it’s that full either! Suckers . . . ---

Yeah, these look pretty cool. I’ve been contemplating getting one for a solid _week_ now. I make mac&cheese all the time, and that device will allow me to be _even more lazy_! 😃 ---

How funny that this thread is here. I just got mine delived today. I ordered it online about 3 weeks ago. I’m using imy PastaPro to make dinner tonight. I don’t think it seems cheapy, It’s actually pretty cool. That handy stitch is a different story however. I’ll let you know how well it works after we’re done eating. ---

All of my cookwear was a gift from my grandparents who believe that Teflon poisons food. It’s ultra-heavy stainless steel, and when the pot is full of boiling water, I fear being badly burned when draining pasta. I ordered the Better Pasta Pot oon 11/24, intending to give it to my hubby for Christmas, and it STILL has not arrived! ---

I don’t know how many you cook for, but when cooking pasta, you need LOTS of water, and those pots just aren’t big enough for more than two-three people. I much prefer an eight to twelve quart aluminum pasta pot with the lift out colander. As for the chopper…bah. I sat through one of those home-selling shows for cooks gear (Ms. D\_Odds had a gun to my head, as the seller was a good friend of hers). They knew I was an amateur chef, and I was hard pressed not to say what I really thought as she was chopping. Some of the things I wanted to say: - onions need gentler handling (although garlic can put up with the rougher treatment) - you want uniform sizes for most items - how do you keep the blades sharp (sure, it’s good for fresh herbs new, but how about in 6 months; if it’s not sharp, the herbs will discolor quickly) Durnit, I take too long writing posts (stupid work!). **Scarlett67** beat me on the size problem. ---

I want one to drain grease and fat after cooking meat, but that one looks like the holes are too big and far apart to pour grease out into a little container. Can they make one with a lid with just a little hole so you can control the pouring better? I hate doing it now, you have to get a death grip on the pan and lid with just a little crack open and pour it out, I’ve ended up with meat all over the sink more than once. I knew exacly which pot you were talking about when I saw the title. I am always tempted by things on tv, but never dare to buy them, for fear of getting crap and having people say, I told you so. ---

I’ve never had a problem buying stuff off the TV… why, you should see my rock solid abs from… 😃 Kitchenware is always damned tempting, I don’t know why. There’s some mini-oven-rotisserie-thingy that has been calling my name for quite some time now. ---

Actually, one thing I really want I’ve only seen once. It’s this sweet old lady peddling it. It’s hard to describe…but take a whisk, and flatten it. Now, make it so it can open up so it’s like a pair of tongs, but with whisk things to grab food. It’s neat, cause it can whisk things, and flip burgers, and it “comforms to food” (their words) so you can even lift eggs out of boiling water easily. ---

This was my problem too - I tend to get hit with the steam as I’m pouring the water off. So like **D\_Odds** , I bought a 8 qt. pot with a deep colander insert (for pasta, corn on the cob, lobster, etc.) and also a shallow insert that works for steaming vegetables. **Lissa** , you might be able to find a similar insert designed for your brand of pots. ---

(there isn’t room for it next to the drain, so it has to straddle the drain, and if it slides even a little bit, it tips over because part of its support falls into the drain hole) Also, lids take less space in the cabinet than colanders do, so it’s more convenient that way, too. ---

When I see the commercial with the family at the table checking their watches while Mom pours the spaghetti down the drain, I want to throw a brick thru the screen. First of all, if Dad’s so hungry, why isn’t he helping? And if Mom can’t pour the pasta into a collander without spilling, why isn’t Dad helping? And the holes in the lid look so big, my vermicelli would fall out anyway, so there’s no way I’d buy one of those. I hate commercials that make people look like idiots. Gee, I didn’t realize it upset me that much. Stupid pots. ---

I bought something similar about 5 years ago at COSTCO: Teflon lined pot ( **do not** mash potatoes in it…), with a lock on lid for pasta. Use it all the time…works great. I say: “Get it!” 🙂 ---

The PastaPot _infuriates_ my husband. I’ve never seen him so angry at a commercial before. Apparently he’s offended that someone would be so stupid they don’t know how to operate a colonder (witness the pasta down the drain) and he’s upset because he didn’t think of it first. ---
