Ive been to Newgrange and I love it there. Im Irish descent so it has a special meaning for me.
I dont have good views of the horizon so marking the sun at sunrise and sunset are difficult. I like the ideas of marking the shadows at noon. Also, boring a hole through the stone sounds like an interesting idea.
Use a monolithic piece of black stone, 1 foot thick by 4 feet wide by 9 feet tall. Rig it up so that on the solstice, it plays Also Sprach Zarathustra. Loudly.
Hmmm… This guy is only about 80-90 miles from me. Might be worth an outing some weekend if he’s out playing with his blocks…

I think Ill do a mock up in wood to see how the shadows look.
