Have you tried making cheese sauce in it yet? Just throw in 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup butter, 2 cups of milk and a couple handfuls of shredded cheese. High for 5 minutes, and you have thick, steamy hot cheese sauce for your broccoli or maccaroni!
And it’s its own dishwasher, too!
So you clean it out and make soft serve ice cream in 60 seconds!
Why yes, I love my Vitamix!
But I have to admit, I killed a motor trying to mash potatoes. I’m not sure what I was thinking. Burned out the motor. But - here’s the amazing part – they replaced the motor free of charge, even though it was clearly my fault. They did tell me not to use it for mashed potatoes, though!
What I don’t like about my KitchenAid, compared to my mom’s Oster:
[ul][li]It’s blue. I hate blue. But it was half price.[/li][li]The pitcher/jar/whatever is low and wide. This means you need more liquid for enough depth to engage the blades; I can’t make one egg’s worth of mayo, I have to make a triple recipe. One egg, lies at the bottom beneath the blades and does not engage.[/li][li]The interface gears are rubber; they overheat and smell when making, again, mayo; my mayo ends up warm, even if my ingredients are chilled. [/li][li]The blades are blunt; die cut, right angled edge. THis is fine for liquids, but it takes MUCH longer to liquify solid things, because they have to be battered to death rather than chopped. When I make tomato bisque and put garlic cloves in the blender, no matter how long it runs I have to strain out the chunks.[/li][/ul]
I’d recommend the Waring, myself. More importantly, buy your blender from Williams Sonoma or Costco. Both stores have an indefinite return policy–you can return a faulty product years later.
