I’m writing a fanfiction story and I’ve decided that I want a Starship named after a Redshirt - those random security crew personnel that Kirk leaves behind to get slaughtered by the monster of the week. (The starship is a MACO troop carrier.) In your opinion, who is the most heroic Redshirt in Star Trek history? ---

Galloway is a good choice, as is Lt. Leslie. Both are notable because they were killed on-screen (not merely dead, but really most sincerely dead) and yet came back. Slightly more than red-shirt fodder were Lt. Kevin Riley and, of course, Yeoman Rand. Riley survived both Kodos the Executioner and the attempted poisoning by Kodos’ daughter, Lenore. ---

The real life equivalent for it would be [Reuben James,](http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/images/h56000/h56753.jpg) who had 3 ships names after him (for sacrificial heroism that was actually done by **Daniel Frazier** , making Frazier the ultimate redshirt). ---
