And now I have one. I got an Italian BMT from Subway on 9-grain wheat bread. Yellow cheddar. lettuce, tomato, onion and green peppers. For the sauce, I got the house Italian dressing. Oh yeah! (Checks to make sure I’m in MPSIMS aaaaaaaaand submit) ---

IF I’m going to reduce myself to go to Subway (which I often do), I’m going to get the cold cut combo with cheddar, lettuce, spinach, pickles, mayo, mustard, and lots of black pepper. On whole wheat. ---

I had a genuine shrimp po’boy yesterday. Does that count? Hand-breaded shrimp on a New Orleans roll, with tomato, pickles, etc. Added some splashes of Louisiana hot sauce and ah-HEEEE! Accompanied by red beans and rice on the side, made with real tasso and andouille. If this food cart ever leaves our neighborhood, I’ll just shoot myself. ---

The Italian BMT is my fave. White bread, oil & vinegar, and ALL the toppings, including jalapenos. I get the 12-inch and ask them to wrap the two halves separately. Eat one now, and the one that has sat in the fridge overnight is extra good tomorrow. Hmmm…might have to have one of those very soon. ---

My favorite at Subway is teriyaki chicken, provalone cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, black olives, honey mustard and a little mayo. It may not sound that great but it’s a great combination to me. I usually get the flatbread because this is my daughter’s favorite and we always split it. Or get two. Okay we mostly get two. 🙂 ---

I’m partial to ham, chicken, and tuna salad subs, myself. And meatball subs smothered in marinara, with Mozarella and Parmesan cheese. ---

My local Subway is offering the “Any foot-long sub for $6” deal now. I went in today and asked if was really true and they claimed that it was. All right, I had to test the limits of this promotion. I ordered a steak and cheese foot-long toasted on Italian bread with every vegetable in site with double jalapenos and pepper-jack cheese. I won’t claim that it was the best sandwich ever created but it was pretty damned good. I could barely finish the thing and skipped dinner because it was so huge. That is not a bad deal for $6 and cents. I am a big fan of Subway in general. If you get a less than great sandwich, it is probably your own fault because they will almost always make anything you want. ---

I’m ambivalent on Subway. For sub chains, Jersey Mike’s is the way to go. Mr. Goodcents is a close second. I don’t like Penn Station’s sandwiches all that much, but their fries are first rate. I like fairly minimalist sandwiches. I can’t abide a sloppy sub. Cheese, lettuce, onion, salt, pepper, mayo. Green pepper if I’m at Jersey Mike’s. That’s it. And Doritos. That’s a lunch that makes me happy. ---

If you’re getting a sub at Subway and you’re not getting the Sweet Onion dressing, you’re doing it wrong (okay, with the exception of the meatball sub which requires marinara; other than that tho…)!
