Here I am, sitting at my computer, rather uncomfortable. I am in a tight velvet back dress, black cape with purple silk lining, and my mom’s boots from the 60’s. I barely made it to work on time. I had to run to my almost empty apartment (that we are moving out of) to get my costume that I’ve used for years. then I had to run to Target to get black pantyhose. I struggled in the Target bathroom, sitting on the toilet with my dress around my waist trying not to get it in the water. I finally got the damn control top pantyhose on. I get to work at 10:33, 2 minutes before I have to clock in. I look around at the people who made me dress up. They had begged and pleaded with me for hours the day before. They all sat there in jeans and t-shirts. The excuses were the same. “I couldn’t find a costume last night…” So now here I sit with my feet screaming for air, showing more leg than I ever had at work before, looking like a freak. All the while waiting for the costume contest so that at least I can get a gift certificate to dinner to ake up for this horrid day. This personifies all my fears as a child od showing up looking inappropriatly dressed. Although it halloween so who gives a shit.? p.s. sorry about any spelling errors ---

I usually come to work as a hideous zombie… on Halloween. This year the department decided to play a trick on the boss. Everyone is going to wear their best clown costume, and the boss had better be the best. Of course, we were not going to dress up at all. The boss would look like an idiot. Too bad he’s on a business trip today. So I decided to “dress up” as a filmmaker. I just dressed normally and brought my 16mm Eclair, a slate, a “ditty bag” that I use on shoots, light meter, viewfinder, etc. So I can be “normal”, or I can say I’m a filmmaker. Not very imaginative, but I just decided as I was in the shower this morning and I was already late. I shoulda done the zombie. ---

It could have been worse. Back in high school, we were allowed to wear our costumes on Halloween Day. Well, for some completely stupid reason, I decided to go as a prostitute. I made it about halfway through first hour before the teacher dragged me down to the principal’s office and I got suspended from school for my outfit. I mean, come on, it wasn’t that revealing. I’ve seen girls in high school nowadays who wear less on a daily basis. But back then, wearing thigh high stockings and shorty shorts with spiked heels and a feather boa to school were a no-no. ---

Hey tubagirl. We had our halloween party on Friday, which is our usual casual day. About a quarter of the people on our floor dressed up, and most of them actually put some effort into it, which is cool. So I got to run around dressed as a biker chick all day, stunned the hell out of most of my co-workers, and won second prize (twenty bucks) to boot. Rules to live by: Always dress in something you are comfortable in when going to work. Even on Halloween. ---

Sounds slick. I got stuck with a “wizard girl” look. Like Merlin, but in pink. I’m sick of it, and when I remove the pointy hat, people say Are you Bo Peep? ---

I’ve lifted a line from Wednesday Addams (Christina Ricci) in _The Addams Family_ movie. I dress normally, and tell people that I’m in costume as a serial killer. “They look just like the rest of us, you know”. ---

two years ago i went as a blue crayon, and everybody liked my costume. i did not have a cosume last year. i tried to make a dress so i could go as a dryad, but the outfit was not finished in time. so i wore a blue dress with silver sparkles, white pantyhose, golden shoes, with a scary blonde wig with lots of eyeshadow and lipstick. i was a fashion victim for halloween.
