Don’t you hate it when people start talking about being the first one to do someone, usually something lame like inventing the internet or using Coke as a douche? Anyone here REALLY the first to do something newsworthy, monumental or incredibly neat? Just curious… ---

I invented lines. Before me, everyone was just standing around in a haphazzard fashion and I said “hey, why not everyone face in the same direction?” I also invented marriage. ---

beckwall, with these four responses (mine included), you safely take your thread away from the realm of “I wsa the only poster in my thread”. I have yet to see one that beat my record of posting thrice in one thread and not having anyone else post in it. ---

My friend’s dad claims he invented the word “dweeb”. While in college (yes, it was the '60s), he randomly thought, “I think I’ll invent a word today and then see how long it is before someone else uses the word.” Hey, if Dr. Seuss can do it with “nerd”… I imagine this is how such words as “felch”, “squick”, and “mung” came into existence, also. ---

My brother and I agree that he was the first to lash one of those plastic milk cartons to the back of a motorcycle. This would be in early 1968, although I didn’t see the construction until late 1969. Bill claims he was the first to do so in North Carolina and Virginia, and he was the first I saw in Georgia and Florida so appointed. He had a 175cc Yamaha he rode everywhere, up to and including 1200 mile round trips from school to home and back, so people had ample opportunity to see him and his bright red plastic carton trailing behind. I like to think those sightings spurred the carton shortage dairy products people had in the late 70’s and that, as far as I know, continues to this day. ---

I was the first person at my school to wear paper coveralls to school for no special reason. Yes, this is today, I’m _Bicycle Repairman_, and yes, I do have on other clothes than that. If I didn’t, then I’d have a bit of a problem. ---
