Who said it first? For the record, I did do a google search and I got more than one answer: Reality Bites, SNL, Old School and many, many more. But where was it said first? Any one know?

I think it was SNL, in the very early days. Chevy Chase playing President Ford.

Personally, I associate the “I was told . . .” phrasing with Milton from Office Space.
