So…you run into one stupid person on the internet, and jump immediately to weeping for all of America? Where do you live, Dogface, so I can start weeping for your country?
I find it hard to believe that anyone can take a position in support of smoking. Even if one choose to label the research regarding smoking as spurious, they certainly can’t argue with “it makes your breath, hair, clothes, car and home stink.” The most likely result of years of smoking is spending your old age, if you make it there, with COPD. Instead of accepting that possibility, it is easier to ignore the research pointing to it. Denial is easier than quitting.
Smoke free since 9-25-1989.
I am not a smoker, but my husband used to smoke. We lived in Spain for a couple of years, and everyone agreed (both Americans and Spaniards) that the US brands of cigarettes were milder and smoother than the Spanish brands. Some liked the US brands, some liked the Spanish brands. This was over 20 years ago, though, so things might have changed. My POINT being, the tobacco was certainly blended differently and quite possibly had different additives depending on which country’s brand it was intended for.
As a side note, there was a thriving black market trade for American brand cigarettes back then. I’m not sure whether it was just the taste, or the fact that we could buy our cigarettes so much cheaper on base and sell them fairly cheaply to the Spaniards, but everyone had a hand out for any spare cigarettes we had. We didn’t participate in this, though I must say it was tempting.
