Actually I’m not happy to. Not happy at all. 
If you don’t bring the stuff up, eventually it will be lost for all eternity. The ship itself is being consumed by iron-munching microbes. Someday the wreck will collapse and eventually be buried in silt forever. If I’m not mistaken, nobody has seen much less revovered a skeleton in the wreckage. If no bodies have been disturbed, I don’t see the harm in recovering artifacts.

He wasn’t a famous 1st class passenger like Strauss. Sure, his name was on the passenger list but his story was at the bottom of the ocean.
I strongly disagree that the Titanic is equal to the Arizona. It’s is a completly different thing. The men on the AZ died in a war. The Titanic is an accident, compounded with human hubris.
Ballard just thought that nobody else would ever go down there. He now says that if people want to see it they should go down there themselves or watch videos.
