I’m talking full-blown, fancy-outfit (maybe even black tie) reception at 6 pm on a Tuesday because screw you all. 😛 Maybe I’ll do it at 5. Few enough people will come that I can spend _all the money_ on really expensive food. My mother would be totally behind this. She is quietly (to everyone but me, where it’s loudly) furious that she is buying gifts for engagement parties, bridal showers, weddings, and then baby showers for every single one of my cousins–high-end stuff, too–and none of my family has ever had to reciprocate because I seem destined to be single and child-free. Whatever people bought for my brother’s wedding didn’t really count, because that was fifteen years ago, long before any of their kids started doing things that got expensive. 🙂 ---

The all day rain is _just_ starting now. The breeze feels good, I hope it’s raining straight down instead of at an angle so that I don’t need to shut the front winders. ---

If the heat keeps buildin’ up outside we’ll probably have us a “popcorn” storm within the next couple of hours. Called “popcorn” because the heat builds until _pop_ there’s a thunderstorm which usually lasts only ten or fifteen minutes. ---

Moved 3 more car full loads of things into storage today. Only thing left to move is some garage stuff. Then I’ll be all packed up, my whole life fit into a nice little storage unit for who knows how long. Tii-ii-ii-iiiime is on my side, yes it is. Happy Thursday everyone. ---

Don’t forget the pointy sticks! Sri Lankan spiders are scary, with pointy sticks they are armed and dangerous. Some assembly required. Oh the joy of SE TEXAS summer, tis hawt. This weekend I have three outdoors shows, two with the hippies that start late and have shade and a WTF were you thinking? Sunday we are doing a show on the second floor, in a parking lot(car park), in full exposed sun from 3 to 6 pm. There is zero shade except in the bar, not even the stage is covered. I can’t tell you the band name but their initials are E.6. and they are not going to be happy as they were told that the stage was a covered trailer stage(Scene Mobile brand from Quebec appx 8x5 meter). Promoter just decided, nah. Methinks I get to go home early from that one, with full pay. There are a bunch of other problems with this one that I shall spare you but you can say he is not the sharpest card in the deck. He has been at this a long time and should know better. Quick story about said promoter. He was the talent buyer at a local venue and had a long run of money losing shows. Venue was making money, bands as well but buyer/promoter only gets paid from show profit and a small stipend for office work. The intricacies of music business math are beyond the scope of this story. He finally scores a coup, a real money winner. I can’t tell you who but it sounds like Fleensright. Complete success, sold out, great night. I go to the office to let them know I am out as the hands have loaded the semi and hear this gem as I enter the door. They are in a closed office. “what do you mean the is no promoter profit?” “well, it wasn’t written into the contract” Yes he wrote the contract, un wrote himself a check for about 10k Needless to say I left without goodbyes, laughing my head off. Yesterday some of my white socks came out of the laundry pink. I explained my fear to Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) that if I had no other socks to wear, I may be in a horrible automobile accident, and in the emergency room it would be discovered that I was wearing Pick Socks. Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) explained, “The blood will cover them up.” She can always reassure me when I am concerned. ---

So I went out to the bank and said I’d take Sah-son to Taco Hell, his favoritest place on earth and what do we see!!! He turns to say something to me and says \*WHAT \*is that?! _That_ was an extremely tall, extremely thin woman with long bleached blond curly hair wearing a white cowboy hat and very little else. She had on what looked like black bikini underwear, thigh high black stockings with garters, spiked heeled black boots and what ever she had on top tied in the back. She was walking down Ritchie Hwy at 4:30 in the afternoon like she owned the sidewalk. I tried to get a pic but she was a fast walker. I imagine in that get up she’s another kind of walker too although it wouldn’t be kind to judge. ---

If she leaves all the room assigning for me to do again instead of doing it herself the way she’s supposed to I’ll swing the axe myself. ---

I promised hamburger steak and gravy for tomorrow with smashed N.O.T. and green beans. Yeah, it sounds like Tuesday N.O.L. in the school cafeteria but we likes it. ---

\*\*flytrap \*\*- when I was at my first Navy non-training command, I worked the mid shift for about a year. One of my coworkers was a big (6’8" and not fat) tall Texan who had the biggest hands and feet I’d ever seen on a man. He was married, and out of consideration for his wife, he would dress for work in almost-dark. We found that out one night when he showed up in pink socks. I assume his were pinked accidentally also - I can’t imagine anyone making socks that big in pink! And yeah, he got an unholy ration from everyone about the socks. 😃 Supper was delivered because I was too busy cleaning and slicing strawberries. I’ve made the cheesecake/pie and it’s in the fridge chilling. I’ve got 2 hunks of poke out thawing - they’ll be plopped into the slow cooker before we leave for DC tomorrow. I was going to make some cole slaw tonight, but I’s too tahred. I’ll make it as soon as we get home - it should have time to get all slawed before supper, which will be pulled poke sammiches, slaw, and the cheesecake/pie I just made. Yum. I may not be on line again till next week - \*\*FCD \*\*gets all cranky if I go on the computer when his folks are here. He’s a poop sometimes. 😛 Time to knit. ---

The folks have got to sleep some time, **FCM**. Why can’t you post then? 😉 It’s been a week alright, and I’m glad the weekend is almost here. Unfortunately, Saturday will be taken up by a memorial/celebration of life service for my friend’s son. He died back in February under bad circumstances. He was only about 27 years old. I find it sort of odd that the service was delayed for so long, but my friend’s ex is the one who put it off for so long. I’m glad it’s finally happening though, so my friend can put this bed and start to get on with life again. He has (most understandably) taken this very hard and it seems to me by dragging it out, he hasn’t had a chance to close things out. Now he’ll finally get the chance. We’re driving him, his current wife, the current wife’s son, and two of our friends down there and back. Good thing I have that big honkin’ Expedition. The weather has been dreary and wet and is pretty much supposed be that way for the foreseeable future. May in the PNW; at least our grass is still green. ---

Almost off work. Star Trek tonight. DIL saw it already while we were on the road trip and is annoyed with us for dawdling over seeing it because she can’t talk to us about it until we do. So my son and I will see it tonight . . . for her. I was trying to find a good sri lankan spider pic, so I could make cut-outs to give to people. But there’s really only one good pose online and it doesn’t show the legs spread out symmetrically. Sigh. ---
