One final thing: Of course someone else would have gotten there if they hadn’t been around. The same is true of Edison, Ford, Newcomen, and Franklin. They _did_ get there, however, and _their_ protocols took off. “Time and chance happens to everyone,” as the book of Ecclesiastes says. ---

Whoops. This pitting is probably my fault. Note to self; link to wikipedia when citing famous brits. To be fair on the poor OP, Blunkett is probably the biggest news at the moment over here (well, not including the backbench rebellion\*). Are you saying if a non-american asked who Rove, or DeLay, were, they wouldn’t get roundly insulted for being thick? Or told to go google it? \*Not an actual rebellion.
