I wish I had someone to cook for

Same boat here. I’ve got a freezer full of mysterious home cooked meals. As part of my austerity plan coupled with environmental fervor, I am trying to eat my way through my freezer. I made a batch of shitty chicken mole and a batch of shitty refried black beans. Surprisingly enough, they are quite good when mixed together and tossed into a burrito with a ton of fresh ingredients, cheese and sour cream.

I tried thawing out what I thought was green chili stew, but it turned out to be chicken and chinese sausage rice porridge. If I stop posting, you will know it was because I died from food poisoning.

Now I’m wondering upon who I can pawn off my huge experimental batch of napa cabbage kimchi. I tend to be a ton more adventurous in dining that any of my friends so it’s tough to get people to try the weirder stuff. My nephews and sister seem to be willing experimental subjects though.

If only you were closer. I would love to have a home-cooked meal.

I totally know how you feel. My sister doesn’t eat any of the same things I do (she’s mostly vegetarian, I’m… not)

I make something really good and it only feeds me for one meal. Or it won’t reheat well so it’s a waste anyway. Or I end up eating the same thing for all three meals for two weeks.

It sucks.

What I miss isn’t so much having someone to cook for, but someone to cook with. Especially someone who enjoys trying new things and experimenting.

The other thing I miss is trading off on dish duty. You cook, I clean. I cook, you clean. Or we both do some cooking and some cleaning. I love cooking, but dishes, not so much.

As for the hubby thang, if you want to rent-a-real hubby, I could sit on the couch in my shabby boxer/briefs and watch football.
