I wish they would make a movie of...

Fredric Brown’s Arena. Done straight, for once

The Stars my Destination (which has a killer cinematic opening) or The Demolished Man

Frederick Forsyth’s The Devil’s Alternative

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court . I’ve seen the other “versions”. They all completely change things, and not one of them feels like Twain.

Something by Heinlein without screwing it up. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, maybe.

I would never start a sentence with “I wish they would make a movie of…”, but it occurs to me that Watership Down could look a hell of a lot better if Pixar had done it. I would feel terrible if they tried to make or market it as cute-n-funny-bunny-movie, though.

Yeah. And I thought Judd Nelson was an inspired idea. Haller is savvy but not sleazy, a hustler but not an ambulance chaser. Nelson could totally have pulled that off.

I occasionally amuse myself by trying to cast Good Omens in my head. I always see Rufus Sewell as Crowley. I think Jim Parsons could pull of Newt as well.

Its fun to imagne what actors could play the horsemen as well. I am sure if a movie ever got made, I would be disappointed, though.

Thanks. I actually put a little thought into that one.

Unlike my original casting of Blake as Bosch, which came to me in a flash about 20 pages into The Black Echo.

Stephen King’s Rose Madder, starring Demi, Ashton & Bruce.

Ed McBain’s Deaf Man mysteries, starring Leonardo.

When they got serious about making a movie, they considered doing this. In they end they realied it would suck, infuriate the fans and kill the show. But it sorta almost happened.

For now I’ve generally had it with literary adaptations for the screen. For a historical event, I’d like to see an adaptation of the Lizzie Borden mystery. When I read John Corrado’s SD staff report about it years ago, I thought it would make a very good movie.

Still waiting for them to put The Alienist to film. Unfortunately, that one is stuck in limbo.

I’ve always wanted to see Dragonlance done in live action. After LotR I figured there was a legitimate shot, then that craptastic animated version arrived. It probably killed any chance of seeing it done in the epic fashion it deserves.

Finally, I would enjoy seeing Agent Pendergast on screen. That horrible Relic movie got it all wrong and took out the most interesting character.

I would love to see Margaret Weis’s Star of the Guardian series become a movie or miniseries.

Unfotunantely, I think many people would see space knights and laser swords and just dismiss it as a Star Wars knock off.

Oh, yes! Cabinet of Curiosities would be loads of fun.

I’d like to see Flanders, by Patricia Anthony made into a movie. Compelling characters, lots of action, a horrific moral epiphany and a ghostly subplot plunked right down in the middle of the Great War. What more could you want?

The internet is bursting with theories on who should play the alluring Agent Pendergast.

I always thought “Battlefield Earth” would make a good movie.

Be careful what you wish for folks

Outlander. I have trouble casting Jaime, but I thought Gerard Butler would make a great Dougal and Kate Beckinsale as Claire

Great literature it ain’t, but The Stainless Steel Rat is a hell of an entertaining read, and would make a fantastic {and box-office friendly: “it’s like Bond meets Oceans 11, only in space”} SF caper movie for George Clooney and Angelina Jolie, with a nice cameo for Sean Connery: British comic 2000AD did a fantastic and very faithful adaption many years ago which could pretty much serve a storyboard and shooting script.

No fucking way, she is NOT an Angelina Jolie type. She is described as fairly plain, almond eyed and it says nothing about a blowfish puffy lip mouth. If anything, one of the half asian kung fu movie chicks [or maybe Lucy Lieu at the oddest.]

Her mother is almost pure chinese/terran asian genetically and her father is almost pure anglo. She is also a ‘genie’ as Arthur Harrington’s family line were genetically modified for settling an extra terrestrial planet. She was the ‘ugly duckling’ growing up because of being third generation extended life so she matured slowly enough that at the age of 45-50 in the books she looked like she was in her early 20s.

Id love the Miles Vorkosigan series, but Lois McMaster Bujold upon reading a proposed treatment for one of her books has categorically refused to allow it to be made into a movie [honestly, the barrayaran space navy members building fires in teh corridors of a strange ship to cook food?!]

oooo I love that series! That would be great.

Wow! Yes! I’ve always thought it would work as a film. And they’d be perfect! She already, suspiciously, has the same name.

That is, until they had the rugrats.

pun intended

The Mote in God’s Eye by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. Those little bastards could be pretty scary in CGI.

Ringworld could be spectacular.

Tunnel in the Sky was always a favorite Heinlein book.

I think a biopic of Tesla would be amazing.

I can’t stand Angelina Jolie. She can’t act; all she does is play Angelina Jolie. The only movie she should be in is a porn film with me as her co-star.

Movies “they” should make: Epic war film of the Thirty Years’ War. Bio-pic of William the Silent. Movie adaptation of Samuel Delany’s Hogg. Movie about Baron Ungern von Sternberg. Epic war movie about War of the Roses and King Edward IV. Bio-pic of Russian anarchist Nestor Makhno. Film about the Byzantine emperors Phocas and Michael I (the Amorian.) Film adaptation of A Man in Full by Tom Wolfe.
