…because then you’d have at least a clue. The way to “wash” flatware and utensils is NOT to leave it in a stopped-up sink “soaking” for three days!! I understand that the ossified dishes you brought in from the bowels of your room did indeed need to soak a bit, lest you be forced to chip the crud off with a chisel or jackhammer, but an hour in HOT water would have done it. All that happens when you stop up the sink is that everyone then puts all kinds of food-covered dishes in there and then we end up with this putrefying yuk. And NO ONE wants to put their hand in there to un-stop the sink. Honestly! There was a soup bowl FILLED with cigarette ashes, and you quit smoking three months ago! Do you have any idea how hard it was to get it to smell like something someone would want to eat off of again? And another thing! STOP buttering your goddamned toast over the dish drainer! Why would anybody do that? It makes these gloppy disgusting wet crumbs of nasty goo right underneath the just-washed dishes, and that’s gross. _ **—And get your bike out of the kitchen!** _ Ah, roommates. I feel better now. That is all. ---

Disgusting habits! You can kill two birds w/ one stone if you get a bottle of bleach-based cleaner, squirt it over the dishes while they’re in the sink and not only will it break down the crud and stink but the bleach smell should deter the person wanting to hold their food over it for any reason. If you have a refillable bottle a 50/50 of bleach and hot water will have roughly the same effect. ---

Can i be the first to say eew! I will trade your u that for the one who leaves the bathroom in such bad shape you would rather use a public washroom that hadn’t been cleaned in five months, when asked why they never cleaned the bathroom, they said it was beneath them for doing such mundane tasks. ---

OP: At least your roommate is doing something (albeit remotely) akin to washing the dishes. One of my classmates had the misfortune to share an apartment with three other, let’s call these other three gentlemen. My classmate was rather fastidious. The so-called gentlemen would have grossed out Oscar Madison. Those three guys never washed their cookware, flatware, or utensils. They would just use the dirty dishes over and over and over. ---

I cut back spending on other non-essentials and found a REALLY cheap studio apartment. I was paying almost double per month for rent what I had paid but it was worth it not to have roommates. ---

There was an item on the news this morning about a woman who sent a care package to her son in college.
