Food of the Gods?
Starcrash?
American Ninja 3: Blood Hunt?
(To be fair, Starcrash has its amusing moments, but that owes more to Christopher Plummer than to Marjoe Gortner.)
Sandra Bullock
Marisa Tomei
This is my feeling as well. I’m much more prone to seeking out directors than actors, but obviously have favorite actors/actresses as well.
It also holds true for directors to avoid, like Michael Bay or Eli Roth.
Who has made interesting choices?
Joseph Gordon Leavitt
Charlize Theron
Stanley Tucci
Joan Cusack
Meryl Streep
You have to be kidding. Did you ever see Remains of the Day? Like watching paint dry for 4 hours.
Funny typo, but that would be the worst movie ever.
Don’t forget Earthquake!
Scarlett Johansson
Meryl Streep
Charlize Theron
Angelina Jolie
Steve McQueen
I thought Sid Haig’s role left a spooked:eek: impression with this grizzled cineaste. (I think it was the lingering laugh that did it) Oh and great camerawork, too - great framing.
Also the Marjoe doc, which quite impressed me how up front and forthright he was with the crew. (to give surprised credit where it’s due) The only other thing I can think of, is him hosting this brief debacle of a (huh? variety?) tv show called Stand Up America, conceived in response to the Iran hostage crisis that was happening at the time. Dressed in fatigues, he basically drummed up jingoistic feel-goodery spiels for us addled viewers. Really weird shit.
After seeing Withnail and I, I thought - ok - I gotta see whatever this Richard E. Grant loon will be in next, but then I stupidly lost track of him, and all I can come up with, now, is his neurotic milksop screenwriter character in The Player. (which worked ok for me) I’m all ears if anyone can mention anything else he was in that I should’ve taken note of.
Was always up for the next Christopher Guest vehicle.
Always had this Rene Soutendijk thing going - she was fucking hot in Spetters (quite semi-crappy) and The Fourth Man (much, much more engaging flick).
Michael Fassbender. He makes everything better just by nature of being there.
I liked it! I enjoyed the book, too.
