# I wrote to a Cabinet Minister and got a reply within a week

I was impressed by the quick turnaround, particularly with the four-day Easter break in the middle of it all. He obviously has very efficient staff. Or he doesn’t get very much correspondence.

I once wrote a very senior US senator about a pet issue, and not only did I get a quick reply saying that he would look into it, but I also got a follow up letter from him, which included a copy of the letter he’d gotten from a senior Army official addressing my concern! :eek: The senator even noted that although the answer wasn’t the one I was probably hoping for, that if he or his committee could help me in the future, to just let him know.

Too bad it was Strom frigging Thurmond. 😉

My husband got a great personal letter from John McCain a few years back.
