I use ‘em in the cats’ water dish, cuz they like their water cold. They used to drink from the toilet and stopped when I offered them ice cold water in their dish.

Anybody have any _really_ unusual uses for ice cubes? Have ice cubes ever solved any of your problems? Have they enhanced any aspect of your life?

Share with us.

I just wanna make the world a happy place. 🙂

Namaste!

I used to have a cat that refused to drink water… I had to either turn on the sink faucet for her, or give her ice cubes to lick.

My dog loves ice cubes. So we use them as calorie-free dog treats.

lol **CrankyAsAnOldMan** after I read that I just _had_ to go and get Megan (my dog) an ice cube. You should have seen the faces she pulled, but she just _had_ to catch it everytime I threw it. Thanks for the 10 minutes of entertainment \<g\>

Not ice cubes… but I found a different use for “otter pops”. You might know them as “pop ice” or some other name. It’s long sleeves of (basically) kool-aid that are attached at the sides. You freeze 'em and then pull 'em apart, snip off the end, and push up the pop to enjoy.

The other week, I strained my foreard playing softball.

Get an icepack? nah…

Layed them in a towel, folded it over once, and wrapped it around my forearm.

Works like a charm!

Bags of frozen peas or corn work great like that too!

Frozen bags of Minute Rice do the same thing. I learned that when I had my Wisdom Teeth taken out.

Darn! Someone took my recommendation about using ice cubes during sex!

Um… I fill my water bottle up with ice cubes and drink the meltdown, as room temp. water makes me queasy… does that count as a recommendation??

My sister crunches ice alot, too. I am not a medical expert, but I’ve heard that crunching ice alot like that might be a sign of iron deficiency. I’ve told sis this, but she says she just likes to crunch. Just my 0.02.

I craved ice cubes the last three months of my pregnancy, the craving really was overwhelming so I had to have ice in the freezer at all times. I also craved raw vegetables because of the crunchieness (not as much as the ice cubes though) does that count as a wierd use of ice cubes??
BTW **dobbinaire** , I was taking iron tablets, but that would fit in with pregnancy.

I do this too. Not only are they calorie free but they cost almost nothing! A variation on this is to dissolve a bouillon cube (chicken or beef) in the water before dumping it in the ice tray. Now you have chicken (or beef) flavored ice to give to the pups. My dogs love it.

Ice cubes make for really neat disappearing sling shot ammunition. The evidence just melts (as it were) into the scenery.

I have used them to fool locked thermostats into thinking it was cooler then it was (to get more heat in the winter) anlong with using chemical hot packs to fool it to turn off the thermostat when it is too hot.

Grinding a few ice cubes occasionally in your sink’s garbage disposal keeps gunk off the blades and keeps 'em sharp. They’ll leave no residue behind, like bones can.
