Literally the entire point of my post is what does or doesn’t fly in Minneapolis, New York, or LA is irrelevant if Trump’s goons simply lock the doors of the legislative chamber and don’t seat their representatives, and simply declare those states to be in rebellion. At that point the only thing that works is a general strike. Yes I see people hounding and harassing ICE in the streets and that’s great. What I don’t see is a critical mass of people willing to risk their jobs and livelihoods. Facing a small chance of getting popped with a pepper ball is a different risk than a certainty of losing your job and paycheck in a general strike. And so far we haven’t seen many people take up the latter risk. Maybe the will is there, I dunno, but most people faced with losing their job or rolling over have simply rolled over. I’ll repeat for clarity: people can and will get rowdy in the streets all day, but when Trump locks the legislative chamber and refuses to seat their reps, getting rowdy in Minneapolis won’t do a damn thing for that. People have to be willing to lose jobs in a general strike. ---

At that point the only thing that works is a general strike. You do realize that you’re describing a civil war. Once the federal government declares that a state is in rebellion, a war has started. I’m not saying that’s impossible (though it’s far-fetched), but that _will_ cause armed conflict. That’s what a rebellion is. The state may surrender in the face of overwhelming military force, assuming the Republicans can get the armed forces to go along with everything, but we’re still talking about military action here.
