“When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”
[and probably a Glock]
I’d be shocked to learn that the Trump administration is holding a double-standard on this one. SHOCKED!!

Which turned out to be incorrect, because Trump doesn’t even bother to pretend to be a Christian.
Fake photo! His fingers are too long. Plus the Bible isn’t on fire.
Is that the picture taken just after he’d used chemical weapons on a church?
The money quote:
Heh.
(The rest of this is not meant as a direct reply. Beware random thoughts ahead.)
Also in the second picture it’s been alleged he’s holding it upside down due to the cloth bookmark hanging from the bottom rather than the top. It could just be how the bookmark is placed, I don’t know if it’s been proven one way or the other.
Regardless I don’t think Trump has ever opened a Bible in his life. It’s above his reading comprehension level, such as it exists, anyway. Being genuinely religious or spiritual requires some level of awareness that the universe doesn’t revolve exclusively around an individual and placing something else at the center that is just as, if not more, important. (And I’m not limiting this to Christianity. That goes for any genuinely held spiritual belief or world recognized religion.)
Trump is incapable of placing anything but himself at the center of anything. He uses the Bible as a prop and nothing more. He does this because he knows it gets MAGA’s hearts all aflutter even though they don’t believe in it either.
The same logic applies to his infamous “flag humping” displays. He equates himself with revered symbols and if you disrespect him then you’re disrespecting the symbol and he plays on that to demonize others. It’s a form of psychological confusion that conservatives in general, and MAGA in particular, seem susceptible to.
(I recognize that this is all speculation and armchair analysis. Please feel free to take or leave as much of it as pleases you.)
Based solely on the two pictures posted in this thread, it’s clearly right side up in the second shot. You can just make out the text on the spine and match it to the first shot.
Didn’t read the whole thread, but I need to relate something I read on Instagram.
In present-day France everyone likes to say that their grandparents were in the Resistance. But everyone know whose ancestors collaborated with the Germans. Similarly, in 80 years here in the US everyone will know whose ancestors collaborated with ICE and they will be despised.

That is definitely an optimistic perspective.
I can’t think beyond a couple weeks let alone 80 years but I’ll take it.
You don’t have to remember it, you’ll be reminded of it every time you see an old faded (or worse, kept up) MAGA/Trump tattoo. You can hide your Let’s Go Brandon flag, you don’t have to put bumper stickers on your new truck, you can stop wearing your Trump 2028 hat, but unless you get it removed, you’re still going to have WE THE PEOPLE scrawled across your forearm in giant lettering.
Just looking at that photo on its own, I can zoom in and see a “Y” above an “E” at the upper spine, because I’m sure it says:
HOLY
BIBLE
Plus the Christian nationalist ones, and the runes. The molon labe. And the swastikas. Oh yes.
Also, look at the spacing of the horizontal lines. Yeah, it’s right-side-up.
“One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This”
“Ay plegli ianectu flaggen, tupep like for stahn–”
Ten generations hence, a starship captain will hear those words…
Yes. Also brings to mind a movie I’ve mentioned before.
If the United States somehow manages to pull through this dark period, it will make celebratory movies like the above about how absolutely everyone opposed ICE and heroically hid nonwhite people from the racist thugs. And there will be no civilian collaborators.
