ICE is racist, fascist, lawless, and running concentration camps

My initial source was the New York Times. One wonders when protesters are going to show up at HIS house. Chances are, they’re already there.

I first learned about that when I was a kid in the 1970s!

That was one of Albert DeSalvo’s methods a decade earlier.

You said “rape squad” twice.

(one, two…)

“I like rape squad.”

(Fine, y’all are too slow today…)

(brief clip from Blazing Saddles).

Can we change DHS to DHIS* until sanity is restored?

*Department of Homeland Insecurity.

I got it @JKellyMap . I imagine most of us did.

We are well and truly into the phase where the mission is simply “make EVERYONE terrified of what may be the wrong place to be or thing to do/say today”.

It’s never a good time to go on Twitter, but it’s especially poisonous at the moment. The consensus on the right (among people posting under their own names) seems to be that the ICE agent credibly feared for his life and if you disagree you’re a Monday-morning quarterbacker living in a fantasy land who doesn’t get that hindsight is 20-20.

The consensus on the right among people not posting under their own names seems to be that she was a traitorous, Somali-loving shitlib and a useful idiot for the Jews, and she got what was coming to her. I imagine there’s a lot of “invisible overlap” between those two groups.

The fact that we’ve got video showing the car was moving at about 4 miles an hour doesn’t seem to matter to any of them.

Of course it does not matter. For them, Truth is malleable. Facts are literally only what they want them to be. Evidence does not exist, and they must repeat the words of The Leader.

We are living in George Orwell’s world.

We have two fascists on this very board pushing the idea that the agent was in some kind of danger. One crawled out from under a 15-year hiatus rock.

They are merely repeating the words of Dear Leader. Likely know nothing whatsoever about the incident, and will refuse to view any actual evidence.

In less time than it took me to create this post, I was – miraculously – able to jump three feet to my right from a standing start.

And I’m terminally ill.

I wonder what would have happened if this LEO – who should never have placed himself in front of a motor vehicle in the first place – did what the DoJ implies he should have done: GTF out of the way.

The OP seems spot on. My family has joked about leaving the US but it is becoming less of a joke these days. This is Gestapo level shit (bolding in original):

On January 3, four days before the horrific killing of Renee Nicole Good, the Department of Homeland Security put out a press release. The headline bragged: “ICE Announces Historic 120% Manpower Increase, Thanks to Recruitment Campaign That Brought in 12,000 Officers and Agents.”

The statement went on to boast (bolded language in the original): “After receiving more than 220,000 applications to join ICE from patriotic Americans, ICE blew past its original hiring target of 10,000 new officers and agents within a year. In fact, we have more than doubled our officers and agents from 10,000 to 22,000. With these new patriots on the team, we will be able to accomplish what many say was impossible and fulfill President Trump’s promise to make America safe again.”

I really think every high school bully who went on to do nothing with their lives and only sit around and complain about immigrants taking “their” jobs and playing weekend warrior are mainly those signing up in droves.

ETA: New ICE logo (obviously a joke):

Not a big deal, but at least to me seeing big images of swastikas in the current climate causes a small amount of panic response. Maybe I’m hyper-sensitive, but it’s something to consider when creating such an image for the sake of a joke.

I know someone who supports the efforts of Trump and ICE and, a year or two ago I compared what Trump and his admin were doing to what the Nazis did and that person pushed back hard that I was Godwinizing it and everything is “Nazi something” and just meant to stir the pot.

I’m not buying it anymore. The parallels are there. There are lessons to be learned from history. Maybe Nazis were too often invoked in discussion and lost credibility as an example to be drawn. No longer. The shoe fits. I am not going to apologize for such comparisons when it comes to Trump and his current administration.

She did not try to hit anyone.

People shouldn’t forget how the story “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” ended.

And, IIRC from the shooter’s OWN recording of the incident, the last words she ever spoke was, “I’m not even mad at you” (speaking directly to the person who would kill her moments later.)

That could destroy Republicans in the elections.

A video showing a smiling woman, no hate in her eyes or voice, reassuring an ICE officer that she isn’t mad. Followed seconds later by being shot. And then a montage of administration officials, including Trump himself, insisting that she is a terrorist.

If put like that in front of people, it should be a gut punch to almost anyone who isn’t already deeply in the MAGA cult. This just feels like one of those massively significant moments that spurs change. Maybe I’m wrong, but that is my instinct.

While this is less serious (no one was shot and killed) I would add the person who threw a Subway sandwich at an ICE agent and they tried to jail him for up to ten years for assaulting an ICE agent (thankfully he was acquitted).

Or the Columbia student who was here legally going to college and just nabbed off the street by guys with no uniforms throwing her into a truck.

Probably should not combine the these given the differing severity of the outcome but they show ICE and this admin for who they are.
