Guys push us around 9 times out of 10 because we let them, because we’ve been raised to be polite and kind and understanding. When I took a self-defence course some years ago, the best thing that came out of it was _not_ how to kick a guy in the fork or how to scare them off…it was the sense of independence that we all got out of it. We’re all taught even to this day, don’t be loud, don’t scream in public, don’t make a scene, don’t attract attention to ourselves. What i learned from that class was when to make a scene, and how to step up and assert myself. I highly suggest you take one too, with a good teacher, if you can find one in your area. If nothing else it’ll give you confidence. ---

I agree with a lot of the other advice here. There could be several reasons for his weird talk - maybe you remind him of a daughter or someone cherished from his past, maybe he’s honestly senile and doesn’t realize what he’s saying, and maybe he really has a creepy agenda. In any case, you **do** have a right to tell him not to talk that way. And please make sure you’re aware of your surroundings when you arrive and when you leave work. [/QUOTE] Well, in some countries, some Muslims still have problems with us, but not here, AFAIK. There are also the “Orthodox Baha’is”, which are most assuredly _not_ Baha’is, and in fact, are the _only_ religious group we’re supposed to avoid contact with. ---

Ok, in CA and most of the U.S. (I realize Canada may be different), that could constitute sexual harrassment. I work as a manager in the food service industry for a large national chain and I would be remiss, and possibly face discipline myself, if I didn’t handle it quickly and properly. Certainly pulling him aside after tking a statement from you and explaining that his actions have made some of my employees uncomfortable. I have asked people to leave because they made my bartenders uncomfortable. Its the managers job to protect thier employees, your managers reaction is completely unacceptable in my ever so humble opinion. You should never have to, feel the need to or want to hide from a customer because they make you uncomfortable. Good Luck.
