# ID of a (fictional?) motorcycle model from a pic?

Pictured [here.](http://home.comcast.net/~Ranchoth/Animebike.png) It’s from an older anime movie. I don’t know if it was patterned (even loosely) after a real-world model, or just made up from whole cloth.
I’m guessing it’s _probably_ fictional, but just don’t know enough about bikes to know for sure. Can anyone help me out?

The front fairing reminds me a of a what was here in Europe known as the [Suzuki Katana](http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-series/GSX750S_Katana.shtml). In the US Katana seems to be used for the GSXF models, but you can see the one I’m thinking about in the link.

Yeah I thought of the BMW when I saw the pick. The shape of the fairing hints at a boxer engine.

Looks to me like your typical UJM (universal japanese motorcycle), but the fairing reminds me of a [Yamaha Seca Turbo.](http://www.motosolvang.com/bike_pages/For_sale/1982_Yamaha_Seca_Turbo.htm)

Many models and styles are represented there (check out the dual-sport / off-road tyres). I’d say it is purely fictional, but influenced by bikes the artist had seen around. Just my US$0.02

Crikey! I had the 1100 version back in 82.
I wish I had kept it ☹
