To keep this from becoming too MPSIMS, if I catch them alive could they be good pets? I’ve been intrigued by the idea of pet rats since I know they are intelligent. And don’t need walks.

Caught very young yes. But they do carry disease. I’d check with your local CDC. Rodents in your area apparently carry Hantavirus.

Yes, I guess I would assume they have hantavirus. I tried searching for treatment of it in the animal but I can only find info on treating humans who catch it. Also, I stumbled across info on mouse and rat shows. Who knew!
