# Idea to speed up message boards

Would it be possible to have a mirror to the “Threadspotting” thread? The link on the front page could point to that mirror, which could be updated, say, every hour or so. Accessing it would then just be a normal file transfer, rather than a CGI call. At best, this might reduce the load on the CGI enough that people might actually be able to log in; at worst, people unable to log in would still be able, at least, to read the “Theadspotting”.  
In other words, the link on the homepage would be to threadspot.html or some such, and every hour, the contents of that link would be updated to match the showthread.php?threadid=12345 or whatever the URL is for the  
actual thread on the board. Anyone out there have any comments on this?

I never bother with the main menu.  
Things are so slow I have one “favorite” shortcut for each forum and the search page.
