# Identify a movie

Ok, this is a long shot. I’d like to identify a movie I saw as a child at a drive-in, probably between about 1961 and 1966. All I remember is one scene, and who knows how accurately I’m remembering it.

A man walks down a flight of stairs. At the bottom he realizes that he forgot something, so he turns and walks back up the stairs, and at the top he is flabbergasted to discover he’s in an unfamiliar room, not the room he started from. Later in the movie it is revealed that he had amnesia – a long period of time had elapsed between walking down a flight of stairs in one building and walking up a different flight of stairs in a different building, but it seemed like one event to him because his amnesia caused him to forget everything that happened in between.

That’s all I got. Any ideas?

Reading the plot of _Mirage_, it sounds quite plausible. In particular, the psychiatrist insisting that it’s impossible to have amnesia for two years without realizing it, also rings a bell. Thanks, @The_Other_Waldo_Pepper!
