Recently, I saw this bumper sticker of a yellow equals sign…

on a blue background.

I assume its some kind of equal rights thing, but what organization does it represent specifically?

I don’t know what it means either, though I’ve seen it frequently. My sense is that it may be something similar to the red scuba symbol which took about five years for me to figure out what it meant.

> Ok, things I learned this weekend… For the past couple of months, I have seen the same sticker on a lot of cars around here. It looks like a solid blue square with a solid yellow equals sign in it. But since are were no words on these stickers, I couldn’t figure out what it would be for. Since it was a bumper sticker and was usually placed in the same location that you would see a Nittany Lion pawprint, though, I had assumed it was some college football thing or whatever. I don’t know. What else would be assumed to be universally recognized without words?

> Boy was I wrong. It turns out that it is the symbol for Human Rights Campaign, which is “working for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equal rights.” The symbol that I was talking about is on the upper left corner at that link.

Yup.

The car I lost in December had two stickers on it, the HRC [=] one and the Episcopal Church cross-on-a-shield-with-St.-Andrew’s-Cross-in-a-canton, to indicate my support of those two institutions. It did get me a few strange looks, though! 🙂

I have a HRC sticker for the Firebird, and hope to get another Episcopal Church sticker to go with it.
