You are thinking too recent. Way too big for people or panthers. That was a thrusting point, used on extra-large game. Bison later, bigger things earlier. Stuff that would only find early arrows an annoyance.

Bison were present in Georgia until 16th or 17th century. Black bears were on the menu. Giant ground sloths (grizzly size) were here until, what, 10k years ago. When did the last mammoths go? Glyptodon?

Christ, y’all are a pedantic bunch. In these parts we’ve always called them relics. Maybe it’s a regionalism, but Google “Indian relics” and you’ll get plenty of hits.
