Too late, we are discussing now how to remove [the weakest link](https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/01/politics/trump-white-house-racial-unrest-leadership/index.html) in our efforts to prevent America being torn apart.

What I am saying is that both parties play identity politics, but the Democrats play it more because that is all they offer.

Independents like me know that there is a race problem in America, but it does not have to be so racially balkanized.

What do you base that on? The only evidence I’ve ever seen that the Democrats are focused on identity politics is that it’s something Republicans keep saying over and over. I’ve never heard the actual evidence.

I’m asking you to do more than just repeat what other people are saying. Tell us what you think.

What is it that you are saying identity politics is? What is it that the Democratic Party is doing that you say is identity politics? What would the Democratic Party be doing differently if it was not doing identity politics?

RCP Average 4/16 - 5/4 – – Biden: 54.7 Trump: 35.3 Biden +19.4

And nationally, after all that pearl clutching, Biden is ahead of Trump by 8 points.

Mind you, it is not just identity politics that is telling the people that Trump needs to go, a lot now is thanks to the dismal way Trump is handling the pandemic and the race issues.

I guess it depends on what you mean by “balance”. Most people would think that a black younger woman serves as a perfect balance to a White older man.

Condi Rice is a Republican and retired from politics. Why are you trying to drag her back into something she wants no part of?

Only thing Cotton and Hawley will be destroying in 2024 is a large nacho platter. We’re not even done with 2020 and you’re already picking losers 4.5 years out.

Oh, right. As goes Long Island, so goes… well… just [Long Island](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Long_Island#:~:text=The%20current%20District%20Attorneys%20of,Democrat%20elected%20with%20Conservative%20Party) actually.

The bolded part should remove any concern @Yankees_1996_Champs might have over LI law enforcement supporters backing away from Democrats.

I remember being told the same thing in 2016 - that Hillary Clinton only cared about identity politics and pandering to minority groups, not the issues that affect “real Americans”. Never mind that it wasn’t remotely true - the issue Clinton spent the most time and effort on by far was jobs - but the Republicans and their overseas friends pushed it hard anyway.

And now here this narrative is again, coming to the fore and festering like a persistent cold sore. And OP is doing his darnedest to make sure we all see it.

Nonsense.

If your particular choice of news sites doesn’t mention Democrats talking about anything else, you need some different news sites.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to google “Democrats + Identity Politics” and then post news sources from May 2019 to January 2020? Don’t even need to spend time reading them for context as long as you can leave the door open to counter criticism by saying you previously linked to a 15 month old NBC news article of a former Democratic candidate’s campaign speech.

Don’t know why you’re quoting me on that. If Yankees\_1996\_Champs goes looking for sites talking about identity politics, that’s what they’re going to get; which is the exact opposite of what I said they ought to do.

Here’s the [Democratic Party website](https://democrats.org/), and here’s their [platform for 2020](https://democrats.org/where-we-stand/party-platform/).

Seems to me that, rather than spending their “entire time” talking about “Black women VP”, they’re talking about a lot of other things that aren’t that at all. In fact, I can’t find mention of “Black women VP” anywhere. Maybe you’re talking about a different Democratic Party?
