The Reggie White part really cracked me up! That guy was an all-inclusive bigot- he never met a minority he didn’t slag down. In that one infamous speech alone, he hammered everybody who didn’t look like Reggie. He must have been a real hoot in the pulpit. :rolleyes: And I wouldn’t go getting all hyper about somebody calling Dimebag Darrell a redneck. I knew exactly nothing about the guy before he was killed, because I never listened to his music. I judged him based on his choice of nickname, and not kindly. Oh well. YMMV. It’s not like we’re talking about the Stephen Hawking of music theory, right? 😉 ---

He was also, by all accounts, a genuinly nice guy who would take time for his fans and support local acts. Just because he liked to smoke a little weed, or beacuse you didn’t care for his music, doesn’t seem like a reason to judge him “not kindly.” ---

I think I would have said something. “That was extremely offensive and I can’t believe you felt that appropriate in the workplace! Normally, I let those things fly, but normally they aren’t that offensive. I’m afraid I’m going to need to speak to HR and your supervisor.” 'Course, my son is Korean, so ethnic cleansing in regards to Asians would have been enough that reporting him to HR would have been preferable to most of my thoughts on what should be done to him. ---

I’m with you, I wish I could think of a really good scathing retort. I’m afraid that IRL the sheer idiocy of this type of attitude would reduce me to no more than a stuttered “are you KIDDING me”? I’m hoping that some of our more biting and clever dopers will come up with one that I can practice beforehand, in case I am confronted with this mentality. So far, everyone I know is just horrified. I wish that my 87 cents that’s left in my checking account would do any good, I’d take it to red cross.
