What is bizarre to me is that the people taking offense talk about these heartfelt responses - almost like they thought they were comforting someone who was coming out as transsexual IRL. But IT’S NOT EVEN REMOTELY LIKE THAT!!. Lord almighty. I’m sure there’s millions of girls who pretend to be guys just so they don’t get flirted with. It’s not some sexual identity crisis. ---

It’s a fair point, but not completely relevant. If you take his message at face value, he appeared to be very bothered by his supposed secret. Yeah, I thought it was a ridiculous thing to be concerned about, but people on this board get concerned about ridiculous things all the time. I had fairly recently exchanged PMs with him on an unrelated topic, so while I found it a little bizarre he would communicate with me, it wasn’t completely unbelievable. So I offered a heartfelt response to someone who seemed to be having issues. As I said above, I’m not really bothered by it. I feel dumb for the (minimal) emotional investment I feel tricked into and don’t think the joke was particularly clever, but I don’t need an apology or anything. Some people probably got more emotionally invested, and that isn’t a character flaw or something deserving ridicule. I don’t think Idle Thoughts was malicious or cruel. For the posters saying they are enjoying laughing at the people who were bothered, I don’t know what the hell is wrong with you. ---

If people got emotionally invested, over the course of a few hours, to an unsolicited post (that seemed dubious at best) to the point where they want a formal apology to the entire board, instructing **Idle Thoughts** to never contact them again, that they can’t ever trust **Idle Thoughts** again, etc., then I don’t know what the hell is wrong with them either. Hyperbole much? Molehill, meet mountain. ---
