Okay, so I like Mexican food and, yes, I know that the argument could be made that Taco Bell isn’t really “Mexican” food, but you get what I mean. 😛 It’s Mexican fast food, in my opinion…so, anyway…
…the only thing I’m not too fond of are burritos, but that’s mostly because they always seem to be so bland/plain and not be filled with very many things. Only, like, bean and cheese and maybe some kind of meat. I’m talking about burritos I’ve eaten in general (in my experience) though,…I have no idea how the burritos are at Taco Bell. It’s one of the reasons for this thread.
I’ve looked at an online menu and seen a few burritos that sound (and look, since the TB site has photos) good, however. Like, the kind I always had would only have a few (bland) things in them (like I said above), but some of THESE ones sound like they might be good. Five Layer Burrito? _SEVEN_ Layer Burrito? Hmm…has potential?
Anyway, aside from burritos, I like pretty much everything on the menu, that I saw, at TB. Tacos? Of course. Chalupas? Sure thing. Nachos? Definitely. The taco salads even look very good.
But there are some things on the menu I’ve never even heard of or don’t know how they taste. _Frescos_? What are those? Are they good? _Gorditas_?! No idea what those are (but the photos look tasty). Grillers? Again, looks delicious, but no idea what it is really.
**So, basically (and the TL:DR version): What would you suggest I get at Taco Bell if I haven’t been there for awhile? Suggest to me two or three things that you think are especially tasty if/when you eat there.**

Short answer: Go somewhere else. 😛
Fresco offerings have less fat and fresher ingredients and are really rather tasty. But since Taco Bell is really cheap food, go wild. Try everything!

I’m also wondering if anyone has tried that Ghost Pepper Griller yet… looks good and I like spicy things.
Going somewhere else may be the best answer technically, but it just ain’t gonna happen. 😛 I’m craving Taco Bell right now… In fact, I’ve been craving it for about two or three weeks now, so I plan to make up for it by having TB maybe 2-3 days in a row. Each day I will try to get something different so that I can try a lot of their different offerings.

I’ve had the Ghost Pepper Griller - it’s actually spicy! Probably the spiciest fast food thing I’ve ever eaten. Definitely recommended!

My wife’s a fan of the Cantina Bowl.
I usually go for the grilled stuffed burrito but you said you’re not a burrito fan. The seven layer is (was?) good as well though I haven’t had it in years.

The doritos tacos are good.
The nacho cheese one kind of gets lost if you have cheese on your taco.
The cool ranch one is ok. It needs more cool ranch seasoning.
The fiery one is awesome. Especially if you get sour cream on it.
I agree about the grilled stuffed burritos being good. They are nice and filling.
I’ve recently had the smothered burrito. It’s meat, rice and beans and then they cover it with red sauce, cheese and sour cream. I was worried they would skimp out on the sauce, I like sauce on every bite, but they put enough on it to where I had sauce to slurp up after the burrito was gone. I’ve had it three times and each time there was plenty of sauce.

I love the chicken quesarito. They’re slightly spicy (chipotle, perhaps?) and aren’t overloaded with cheese. As far as cheap goes, their cheesy sausage burritos are nice for breakfast at only $1.69 and are also quite filling.

I like the simplicity of the soft shell taco. I could eat a bunch of them.

I was gonna mention the quesarito…but I’m kinda lukewarm on 'em. They’re a little overpowering. I have trouble finishing one, and two is too much. By the time I’ve gotten the second one down, I really regret having had more than the one.
The double-decker Taco – soft shell outside, hard shell inside – is brilliant. One of the cleverest damn ideas anyone’s ever had. (It keeps the taco shell from shattering, which their regular tacos always do, so you get a mess on the table and your fingers.)
I also love the Chilito.

While it is quite spicy for fast food, the taste of the nacho cheese and seasoned beef really killed my enthusiasm for it. Just tasted pretty gross, sloppy, and “smooshy”, beyond the ghost pepper sauce. But, yeah, it’s hot.

I love Taco Bell, but I like the basic items that have been available for decades—crispy taco, burrito supreme, tostada, enchirito, nachos bell grande.
I don’t like any of the newer items—chalupas, gorditas, whatever.

I really like the quesaritos (it’s like a burrito, but it has mildly seasoned rice and no beans, meat of your choice, chipotle sauce, sour cream and instead of a single tortilla, it’s wrapped in two layers of tortillas with cheese in between, because 'Murica!) but I can’t stand their new shredded chicken. I prefer the beef or steak. The chicken is so dry I can barely swallow it.
The steak doubledilla is really good, though it’s very simple - meat, cheese, tortilla - and it comes with a nice little smooth salsa that’s surprisingly “authentic” for Taco Bell. (I don’t go to Taco Bell for authentic…I got to Taco Bell for Taco Bell.)
Chalupas are still in my rotation. Steak supreme, please.
If it’s got beans, I’m not a fan, so these are my favorites. Can’t do their regular burritos, because every bite tastes of pasty beans.

Why would you want to go to Taco Bell when you can get Mexican fast food made out of fresh ingredients by actual Mexicans who know how to cook Mexican by, like, walking to the next street corner?

If I want good Mexican food, I go to a good Mexican restaurant. I go to Taco Bell specifically for Taco Bell food.
