# IE Problem in XP

I’ve got a problem with Internet Explorer 6 running under XP.
When I used to run 98 and surfed the web and I’d visited a page I’d visited before the graphics that were the same just came up straight away and I’d only have to wait for the text to load. Now I’m running XP every page I visit reloads completely. Even if click back on the toolbar. This is seriously slowing my surfing down. I’ve altered the history options in the history folder to keep for over 28 days so that’s not the problem. The only thing I can think of is the XP firewall. I don’t really want to turn it off because it gives my PC some protection. But could having it turned on be the problem?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as my surfing is becoming tiresome.

Go to **Tools|Internet Options** and click the **Settings** button in the middle of the page. Change the setting under **Check for newer versions of stored pages**. It sounds like you may have **Every visit to the page** selected. Try **Automatically** or **Every time you start Internet Explorer**.

Try disabling the XP firewall and see if it works. If it does, and you still want protection, get Zonealarm from [www.zonelabs.com](http://www.zonelabs.com)

Worked a treat.
I wish I had broadband available in my area then I wouldn’t have to worry about these things. Still that’s what you get for living in the middle of nowhere.
