If an SUV was raised by a family of sport cars...

I missed the fact that she was attempting to be humorous. She corrected me shortly afterwards. I guess I’ve known my wife too long. She could say the exact same thing without realizing she said anything wrong. I guess this is one of the downfalls of message boards. Sometimes what is clearly humor to one person isn’t quite so clear to another. After re-reading her message with the knowledge that she was trying to be funny, I do see how it was intended to be taken. I’m too literal for my own good sometimes.

Why is it that ads for cars and banks tend to be the most smarmy, wanky ads on TV? It’s not just Zoom Freakin’ Zoom either.

Can’t speak for US advertising, but in Autralia we get fed this type of infuriating automotive-related wrist-flicking on our TVs constantly. “We Have Ignition”? I should bloody hope so, otherwise you’ll have a hard time starting your shiny new machine without it! Any car ads with gratuitous scenes of driving in a forest with some gormless prat behind the wheel, complete with smug s…t-eating grin, should be banned and the ad agencies responsible should swap their executives’ cocaine for another white powder (you choose which one …)

Of course, Bank ads (in Australia at least) well and truly take the biscuit when it comes to contrived smarm. You know, the ones where Mr and Mrs Plastic from Inner Suburb of Large City cream themselves with joy over the fact that they’ve mortgaged themselves up to their eyeballs. Sheesh!

Would if I could. sad sigh But as an 18 year old student, it’s a little beyond my reach at the moment. Oh well … when I’m older and making squillions of dollars maybe.
