I am referring to his little embellishments of course. How long would it take before he had to say something under oath and he embellishes it? And the next question, will anyone care? ---

I don’t think lying in and of itself is an impeachable offense. It’s what you lie about that makes all the difference. Or do you think the atmosphere of Washington has been so poisoned that a ham sandwich would be impeached now? ---

To _whomever_ is elected (I’m not revealing my political preference here), it seemingly is only a matter of time before the “other” party starts digging up _any_ transgression and the witch hunt is on… ---

Impeachment has become such a joke in the United States that hardly anyone can take it seriously. Bill Clinton was impeached on the flimsiest of pretenses, with reactionaries clamoring for his impeachment since before Inauguration Day, 1993. The impeachment of Clinton that followed the Starr scandals became a political albatross to haunt many who voted for it. Maybe Gore will get impeached. Maybe Bush will. Whoever wins stands a good chance of having that happen to him. But at this point, I doubt anyone will give a damn. This once-significant action would be meaningless if applied to the next president (unless he were, say, caught on live television in the Oval Office holding a knife over the bloody corpse of his wife.) It’s noteworthy that Bill Clinton was as popular as ever even after his impeachment. I know many people who’d vote Mr. Clinton a third term, if they could. Everyone knows that impeachment means essentially nothing anymore.
