If I die in the OR

Glad you’re OK.

So far you seem to be 0 for 1 in the premonition department, which probably makes you about as accurate as any psychic alive. In fact, I predict that pretty soon you’ll be known as the World’s Greatest Psychic.

So congratulations!

So much for my zombie thread prediction.

Welcome back! You’ll be fine.

I dunno about that. What evidence do we have that MonkeyMensch isn’t a zombie now?

So, no clairvoyance? :frowning: I’m truly sorry for you. Well, at least you get to live. It’s already something , and I hope it will comfort you a bit.

Glad you’re okay!

Whew! Good to hear. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

So does that mean I don’t get your CD collection? :(:wink:

Glad it went fine, been under GA a number of times in my life without an issue, for some reason that has never been a worry for me.

I love how the Dope can sometimes answer questions before you even get a chance to ask them. I was about to ask why I had general anesthesia for my ACL surgery.

I had a rotator repair under general with a nerve block. I was so scared I threw up before they ever got started. Nerves I guess. I did fine. Glad you are still with us.

Every time I’ve ever had surgery I’ve never felt at all stressed or anything until about ten minutes before I know they are about to put me under, then I suddenly get all the anxiety at once and expect to die, surgery is such a bizarre experience, to me it always seems like no time has passed even if you were under for like 6 hours.

You didn’t die, did you? Quitcher bitchin’!

Congrats, MonkeyMensch*!*
(on being wrong…)

I’ve had surgery twice in my life-- tonsillectomy (age 8ish) and ACL replacement (age 21). It never even occurred to me that I might not wake up. The indomitability of youth, I suppose. Now I’d be a nervous wreck (age 42).

I’m glad you didn’t die.

When I asked if the anesthesiologist if he could start the pre-op IV cocktail with profonol ASAP he replied, “Sure thing. We have lots.”

Also, in my new sinistral-handed world: Form-fitting mice don’t really; Fiskars scissors aren’t quite as well designed as I thought; and using the Shift key one-handed is like playing Rachmaninoff.

P

Yay!

Could be worse. Anybody remember the guy who was mortally and inconsolably terrified of general anesthetic because he wasn’t sure if he’d be the same person when he woke up again?

I’ve suddenly become mortally petrified of undergoing general anaesthetic (personal identity Q)

I had hernia surgery 2 weeks ago. I was completely stress free until they were wheeling me into the OR, and the nurse told me a story about her next door neighbor with the same last name as me who died recently of a heart attack. Thanks, moron. If I remembered your name I’d probably complain to the hospital about you.
And I did wake up with a brand new bright green bracelet that said “DIFFICULT AIRWAY”. Apparently intubating me was not easy, due to my “prominent teeth” and “long neck”.

Maybe this is where socks come from…

Pretty sure socks come from here.
