It’s tough to pay the mortgage with cash. Similarly with other large purchases like cars, plane tickets, etc. Still, if I were paying for restaurant meals, groceries, clothing etc. with cash, that would free up quite a lot of money from the salary, to sock away in the 401(k) or by prepaying the mortgage. ---

They may not take cash, but money orders are an option. Those can easily be purchased with cash. People do it all the time for rent. ---

I’m sure I wouldn’t buy a Lamborghini. However, I would travel constantly. I’d also have very nice photography equipment to document my travels. ---
