# If I get banned from the SDMB, where should I go?

Say I got banned tomorrow (which I’m not going to; I have reasonably good manners here) where should I go for my posting fix? Is there other similar boards like the Dope? Or, another way to put it would be, what is the SECOND best message board on the internet?

The only other large, general forums I’ve found that even come close are the Something [Awful.com](http://Awful.com) forums at [http://forums.somethingawful.com](http://forums.somethingawful.com) . They don’t have a mission of fighting ignorance, and it seems to be a more diverse, younger-skewing group over there. Despite some immaturity and outright rudeness that takes getting used to, there are intelligent and funny posters to be found, and good discussions to be had.
If you watch TV at all, the best forums are on Television Without [Pity.com](http://Pity.com)’s website, at [http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com](http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com) . I’ve found some of the most insightful commentary and witty, snarky, hilarious discussion ever over there, but it’s all related to television.

Well hopefully you won’t get banned (though putting threads in the wrong place may not help things 😛 ). There was a thread a month or so back asking basically the same thing, though I can’t seem to find it right now. I remember Something Awful came up a few times though.

There’s [fathom.org](http://fff.fathom.org/) which I always thought of as “Dope Jr.”.
And [Debatepolitics.com](http://www.debatepolitics.com) which is a debate site I am a moderator at. It’s slowly building up steam and is a bit more right leaning (which is fun, because it’s more of a challenge).

I don’t know if it would work for you, but the only other board I frequent is FlyerTalk. (There is a FAQ section, and then I’d start in the middle, “Jump to Forums” with selecting “FlyerTalk Miles & Points.”)
It is mostly about stuff related to frequent flying, collecting FF miles and frequent stayer points, etc., etc. But it also has a section called OMNI which is about half Straight Dope stuff and half political battles (like Great Debates combined with the BBQ Pit).
No fee to register, and you will have to have a certain minimum number of posts before you are allowed to post in OMNI, but that’s all I have to offer.
('Course, if you wanna know how to maximize getting free tickets & stays, it cannot be beat.)
