What things did you find out about someone you went somewhere with, which would have stopped you from ever going with them if known sooner? ---

[grammar Nazi] Inability to conjugate verbs properly. “Would have never went”? [/gn] Seriously, in my case it was that she was stealth crazy. Seemed nice on the outside, deeply disturbed on the inside. ---

I’m assuming we need to leave divorce cases out of this. How about Amway meetings? When I was younger and even dumber than I am now I found myself in a couple MLM meetings where I was politely looking for an exit and wondering if I could manage the 20 mile walk home in the dark. ---

Well, I got plenty (that’s one of the high points about crazy). And I was 35, not 17. And the true crazy didn’t become evident until we were several months in and had a committed relationship. Other than that, I pretty much knew what I was getting into with my exes. ---

I was about 27 or so, new homeowner, relatively new to an area, and some friends fixed me up with a guy. He seemed pleasant enough, even tho he took me to a stupid Clint Eastwood movie (I almost never like the kinds of movies he’s in.) When we got back to my place afterwards, he decided to come clean. He was out of prison on bond… having been arrested for conspiracy to commit murder for hire… for his boss… :eek: Well, he didn’t kill me, and I knew I’d never see him again. Two days later, the friends who set us up contacted me to warn me not to go out with him - they’d \*just \*found out about the whole murder-for-hire thing. :rolleyes: At least they were apologetic, and they never offered to fix me up again, so there’s that. A year or so later, I got a letter from a prison in a state several hundred miles away. My “date” had taken a plea and ratted out his boss, and they gave him a new identity before sending him far away to serve his time. In prison, he found religion and he wrote to apologize. I never did answer that letter. And I didn’t date again for 2 years, at which point, I met my husband and we’ve lived happily ever after since. ---

I would think not replying back to be the best thing in that case. My family knows to never even acknowledge I exist if a certain criminal person asks where to find me. ---

If I knew how insanely jealous she was even when I gave her absolutely no reason to be I never would have married her. Ok to be honest with myself there were some signs but I chose to ignore them. ---

Sorry, I have to do this: “If I knew, I would have never _ **gone** _ with that person.” Anyhoo, I was living in NYC and decided to visit my parents one weekend at their house about two hours away. The girl I was seeing at the time visited her parents the same weekend, who lived about 20 minutes from mine. We both arranged separate rides down on Friday, but she was returning with a friend who was driving back to NYC on Sunday, and invited me to return with them. Sure, why not. They picked me up in my house, friend was driving, GF was in the front seat, and I was in the back of a little econobox. As soon as we were on the highway, DriverGirl assumed her “relaxed driving position”, which involved scooting her butt forward like she was slouched on the couch, and putting her left foot up on the dash. She could barely see over the steering wheel. Manual transmission. OK, there probably won’t be too much need to shift on the highway, but it’s not exactly a safe driving position. She frequently spent much of the drive not looking at the road, whipping in between cars, changing lanes without signaling, tailgating whomever was in front of us, and every stop required slamming on the brakes rather than gradually slowing to a stop. I was pretty sure we weren’t going to get there alive. ---

A girl I met in a chatroom. After one blindfolded date where we met at her place but never saw each other. ( I cheated and peaked). Over the next month my tires were slashed, radiator punctured, house flooded and almost lost my job. The agreement was if we didn’t feel anything no hard feelings, HA! ---
