You can’t blame us for everything. I wonder where these “Ho’s are Us” stores are because it seems that a great number of people seem to be shopping there. There was a young lady at the bus stop the other day wearing those low cut jeans, skimpy little wrap around top, and to top off the ensemble a g-string that sat about 4 inches higher than her jeans. It just took all the pretty out of the girl. Being a guy seems so much easier, with a pair of jeans and a comfortable t-shirt I’m good to go. ---

I am having a harder and harder time finding flattering clothing for a Woman of a Certain Age. I go to Lord & Taylor’s, Ann Taylor, Saks, Bergdorf’s . . . And I’m willing to spend money! But they have their “Britney Spears” collection, and their “Maude” collection, and nothing in between! ---

weird, i was at the banana republic a couple of weeks ago and i didn’t think it was that bad. they still had their standard work slacks and knits and all. the first thing when i saw when i came in the door was that voluminous linen sundress they are selling right now. i have noticed that they are selling more of those wrap around shirts but i didn’t see anything terribly “clubby.” hmm, maybe montreal fashions have inured me…🙂 Eve, have you tried INC New York? It’s sold in a bunch of department stores, Macy’s & Filene’s on the East Coast, and it’s aimed at sort of mid 20s-mid 30s hip professionals, I would say. Some of their styles are more conservative than others. ---

Last night I saw a clip on tv promoting this new style of pants that had a cut out on the backside between the waistband and where the pockets would go. This results in showing about 2 or 3 inches of butt cleavage. I thought this was tacky beyond compare. Apparently these are meant to go with the half shirts, halters and shirts with cut outs. It sort of reminded me of [this Ryan O’Neal movie](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0083099). Only reverse the plastic and denim parts. I am 45 and I like to wear clothes that fit, are flattering, and when appropriate even sexy. I’m not ready to shop at the misses sections at the mall but that seems to be where I am heading. I tend to stick to jeans, skirts, sweaters, tank or t shirts. The sad truth is I spend more time in my work scrubs than anything else. When I come home I strip as soon as I hit the door and slip on something suitable for lounging. I actually dread shopping for clothes anymore. ---

She recently accidentally ripped a huge hole in the pocket area of her jeans so that a good part of one buttock was showing had she chosen to wear those jeans. She threw them away. I haven’t seen anything particularly lovely in new clothing in years, and my rule of thumb about fashion is “if you’re old enough to remember the first time it was in style, you’re too old to wear it now.” Thus, no hip-hugging, titty-baring NUTHIN’ for me. I have adopted the Suburban Mom look and spend most of my life in jeans (classic fit), tennies and brightly-colored (but non-embellished) t-shirts or sweaters. I will say that I HATE having ho clothes marketed in the direction of my twelve-year-old daughter, though, and there isn’t much else out there. Everything is either Winnie-the-Pooh or Baby Slut. ---

They’ll pry my cutoff (mid thigh) khakis and old softball t-shirts off my cold dead body. I am not wearing hookerwear. And to teach in? Well, the Maude section hasn’t lured me in yet, but I manage in regular khakis, corduroys, linen button downs, and the like. ---

And my mother wonders why I want to learn how to sew… However, I did get a few really cute peasant tops at Fashion Bug the other day. One is this white blouse that is so beautiful-lace trim, elbow length bell-sleeves and a draw string right below the bust line. It’s that really thin, white gauzy cotton that looks all wrinkly-so I bought a skin tight little tank top to go underneath.
