If Maryland had a face, I'd slap it

Ah, justice. Someone starts a thread with the title If Maryland had a face, I’d slap it and it turns into a bunch of people talking about how great the state is.

My bad. I just wanted to give people an idea of what’s around here. Actually I haven’t been to too many parts of Delaware except for Laurel (it like coming home) and the beach. As for Jersey, not wanting to knock it, but my few experiences there were less than pleasent. I’m sure it’s a great state, but so far it’s not my cup of tea.

Asylum and Weirddave, I’m just joshing ya too. Jersey jokes are fun, especially for Jerseyians. There’s some kinda perverse pride in living in the nation’s armpit…oops, I did it again.

I noticed this too. Maryland doesn’t deserve a slap in the face (IMHO, of course – gosh, can’t forget the disclaimer).

Oh, and thanks for the D&R definition. More tools to use, that’s fun too…

You mentioned Baltimore as the “Place where BOTH major-sports-league teams originally named “Browns” moved?”

I am sorry to inform you that this is not correct. Now if you had said ‘previously’ instead of ‘originally’, it would be true.

You see, when the American League was formed, one of the original teams was the Milwaukee Brewers. They moved to St. Louis and became the Browns after one year in Milwaukee.

So - the ‘original’ name of your Orioles was Brewers.

Now in case you feel sad at this and need to replenish your bragging rights, another original American League team was the Baltimore Orioles. This team moved to New York and became The New York Hilltoppers and later changed their name to

Drumroll Please

The New York Yankees

Hey! My family owns a house in Rehoboth Beach*, and I think andygirl might have something to say about this as well…

[sub](*My sister called me this weekend from there, as a matter of fact, letting me know that they are having a warm snap and it was eighty degrees and people were in the ocean on December 1. Not quite that warm here in sunny San Diego, but I figure in about a month when they’re knee-deep in snow and it’s still sixty-five here, I’ll be able to do my Nelson, “Ha ha!”)[/sub]

One might ask “Where would Rehobeth be without Ocean City?”

But, of course, we can prove the existance of Delaware. Anywhere a mobile home is next to a mansion, you’re in Delaware.

Why, if we wanted, we could even prove the existence of Delaware.

I’m sorry, you’re happy because you don’t get snow?

Love to the west coast but you don’t know what you’re missing.
